Business Analyst / Functional Analyst Mainframe
Your Day-to-Day
- Gather, analyse and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Perform functional and technical impact assessments for requested changes.
- Contribute to functional specifications and solution design documentation.
- Support business teams throughout the definition and validation of application enhancements.
- Investigate production incidents and identify root causes.
- Track defects and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Produce incident reports and define workarounds when required.
- Provide functional support to end users and business stakeholders.
- Participate in the design and maintenance of COBOL applications within a Mainframe environment.
- Coordinate and monitor developments delivered by technical teams.
- Ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
- Contribute to testing, validation and release activities.
- Prepare test strategies, test cases and acceptance criteria.
- Execute or coordinate functional and user acceptance testing.
- Manage defects through to resolution.
- Support production deployments and post-release activities.
- Analyse and maintain applications running in IBM Mainframe environments.
- Work with technologies such as COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL and transaction processing systems.
- Participate in application lifecycle activities, including maintenance, enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your Profile
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Analyst within a Mainframe environment.
- Strong understanding of IBM Mainframe technologies, including COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL and batch processing.
- Experience working on application maintenance, production support and enhancement projects.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including Oracle and DB2.
- Familiarity with legacy application development and analysis tools such as PACBASE is considered a strong asset.
- Good understanding of banking, financial services or insurance environments.
- Experience with impact analysis, functional design and application evolution processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to investigation.
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
- Comfortable interacting with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Autonomous, proactive and accountable in managing priorities and delivering results.
- Able to escalate critical issues appropriately and propose pragmatic solutions.
- Experience in functional analysis, production support, corrective maintenance and evolutionary maintenance is highly valued.
